You Were Never Alone

 


You thought no one will understand

That true love exists in this land

How intense love is until its lost

How you want it back at any cost

 

The bonds built on trust

Suddenly crumbles into dust

Promises to stay true forever

Now seems like never

 

The future was unpredictable

His tragic departure unbearable

Life can be so cruel at times

Taking him away before his prime

 

How could you feel left behind?

Yes, true love is hard to find

But the pain of loss will cease

Your heart will again be at ease

 

Love ones to help you heal

The sea of grey will become teal

Your remorse might take years

However your existence is too dear

 

But you decided best to depart too

Family, friends mourn over you

You left without consideration

You let sorrows bring devastation

 

If only your thoughts could be seen

This calamity would have never been

It’s too late now that you’re gone

But friend, know you were never alone

As today is International Women's Day with the theme, "Breaking the bias." I was inspired to write this piece within 20 minutes of my lunch hour break. Dedicated to our PNG women in profession.
