This Woman

As today is International Women's Day with the theme, "Breaking the bias." I was inspired to write this piece within 20 minutes of my lunch hour break. Dedicated to our PNG women in profession. Picture courtesy of Two4 Media PNG.

 

I work hard and think it’s not better

What they see, this woman is clever

I go extra yards to prove I have what it takes

What they see, this woman is not fake

I apologize for lateness and think I’ll be omitted

What they see, this woman is committed

I admit a huge mistake and think I lost trust

What they see, this woman is just

I accept loads of tasks and think I’m deficient

What they see, this woman is efficient

I get angry and try my best not to be emotional

What they see, this woman is professional

I’m offered a male dominant role and think I’m not able

What they see, this woman deserves a seat at our table
